SYLVA – Fifty-eight Southwestern Community College students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on Thursday, Dec. 8, on SCC’s Jackson Campus.  EBCI tribal members Dawnena Bradley and Crystal Chotalia were among those inducted.

They all hold at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average, were nominated by a teaching faculty member and rank among the top 20 percent of active students in their respective programs.

“Every student who makes the National Technical Honor Society works hard to make high grades,” said Dr. Thom Brooks, executive vice president for instruction and student services. “Some of them are working while they go to school, and many have families of their own, so this accomplishment did not come easily. I am extremely proud of every one of these inductees.”

NTHS recognizes outstanding student achievement in career and technical education. It encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence and helps students find success in the workplace.
