Cherokee’s cross-county rival, the Swain Co. Maroon Devils (2-5), defeated the Braves 35-16 at Ray Kinsland Stadium on Friday, Oct. 7. Cherokee fell to 3-4 on the year and travel to Rosman on Friday, Oct. 14.
The Braves were led by Tye Mintz, junior quarterback, who threw for 261 yards. He completed passes to four different receivers. Cherokee’s defense was led by Holden Straughan with eight tackles. Cherokee finished the game with 28 first downs and Swain had 26. Both teams had 15 first downs at the half.
