CHEROKEE RUNNERS

The Cherokee Runners gathered for a group run on Saturday, Sept. 20.  Various distances were run from five miles to eight miles at beautiful Lake Junaluska.  The runners are preparing for the Savannah Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K that will be held in early November.  Several Cherokee Runners will compete in this event for the first time.

In addition to training, the Cherokee Runners have been meeting weekly as they plan the 2014 Legends & Tales 5K.  This race will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11.  Same day registration will begin at 6am and end at 7am.  The course is certified and will be conducted with chip timing. The first 100 runners registered will receive a tee-shirt.  Medals will be awarded for age groups for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Membership in the Cherokee Runners is open to anyone looking to improve fitness through running or walking.  Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the Age Link Conference Room at 5PM.  Visit our Facebook page or our website at www.cherokeerunners.com.
