Melinda Smoker Bigwitch – obituary

Melinda Smoker Bigwitch, 75, of Cherokee passed away on Aug. 5, 2014 at Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. Melinda is the daughter of the late Charlie Smoker and Sara Teesateskie Smoker.  Melinda is also preceded in death by two brothers, Abraham Smoker and Tommy Smoker.

Surviving are her three sons, Johnny D. Bigwitch, Danny Bigwitch of Cherokee and  Billy Joe Smoker of Valdosta, Ga.; two daughters, Paula Young of Kansas City, MO and Brenda Rogers of Gainsville, Fla.; two sisters, Jeanette S. Smoker of Robbinsville and Kina Bradley of Cherokee; two brothers, John Francis Smoker and James Smoker both of Cherokee.

A visiation will be held on Friday, Aug. 8 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 5pm.  Melinda will remain at the church to await the hour of service on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2pm.  Burial will follow at Bigwitch Cemetery, Pastor Dan Conseen will officiate.

Long House Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
