Blueberry Festival

Aug. 9 from 9am – 2pm at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds.  This event, sponsored by the Cherokee Chapter of NAIWA, is free to the public.  Schedule: 9am – Cornhole tournament begins (two children from each community), blueberry pancakes and blueberry products go on sale, presentation on nutritional and cultural values of huckleberries and blueberries; 10am – children’s activities start; 11am – Community Clubs Talent Show (one act from each community), dance groups and singing groups perform; 1pm – contests for baked goods, jams, preserves, and syrups made from huckleberries and blueberries; 2pm – awarding of prizes.  Vendors tables are available for $5 each or free to community fundraisers.  Info: Lucille Wolfe 736-5285, Bessie Wallace 497-2389, or Carmaleta Carmaleta@msn.com
