Mountain Mediation Services is offering a Community Mediation Training later this Spring in Webster on May 6-8 from 9 am to 4:30 pm for individuals who wish to learn neutral ways to mediate conflicts in their workplaces, families, churches, community organizations and neighborhoods.  The registration deadline is Monday, April 28.

The three-day training will focus on the cornerstone skills of good mediation, such as identifying parties’ needs and main concerns, diffusing anger, and helping those in dispute create win-win agreements. The course meets the standards of the Mediation Network of North Carolina (MNNC) toward becoming a mediator for Mountain Mediation Services.  Participants who complete the training and the required number of mediations are eligible for certification through the MNNC.  Individuals completing the training also have an opportunity to work with experienced mediators to gain further experience.  The skills taught in this training can be utilized at work, at home, and in various volunteer organizations.

Please contact Mountain Mediation to register or for more information on the training.  The cost is $195 a person for individuals or nonprofits.  Trainees who wish to volunteer for Mountain Mediation Services may have the cost of the training refunded or may request a partial scholarship.

Mountain Mediation Services is a nonprofit agency, which provides affordable, high-quality mediation and training opportunities conducted by experienced trainers and mediation professionals throughout the seven western counties of North Carolina.
