Principal Chief Michell Hicks proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.  Students at Cherokee Middle School decorated their hallways with blue ribbons and anti-child abuse posters to commemorate the month and its message.

Cherokee Middle School 8th graders went all out on their hallway. Some of the students who participated are shown (left-right) front row – Noah Pete, Jace Watty, Dawson Wilnoty, K-Lynn Jackson, Kendra Panther, Juliann Welch and Kara Welch; back row – Andrew Griffin, Jeff Girty, Cade Carroll, Avery Guy, Lou Montelongo and Oksana Rivera.
