The Yellowhill Community will soon have a new community building.  Tribal Council approved a resolution on Thursday, March 7 to authorize the renovation of the old Cherokee Hardware building to be used as the new community building for Yellowhill.

“I think it’s great that we can take that building and do something with it,” said Principal Chief Michell Hicks.

The building renovations will be accomplished by the Cherokee Boys Club.  The budget for the project is $200,000 and will come from the Tribe’s CIP Fund.

“We host over 120 fundraisers annually,” Yellowhill Rep. B. Ensley told Council prior to the vote.  He said the biggest expense of the project will be the installation of a commercial kitchen and a new heating and air system.
