The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will be well represented at the 1A West Regionals Wrestling Championships at Hendersonville High School on Feb. 22-23. A total of eight wrestlers from Cherokee High School, as well as two EBCI tribal members from other schools are set to compete. Wrestling will start on Friday at 5:30pm and on Saturday at 8am.
For Cherokee High School, wrestlers have earned the following seedings:
- 106lb., Michael George (28-6), 4th seed
- 113lb., Ethan Swearengin (24-13), 6th seed
- 126lb., Levi Swearengin (39-6), 3rd seed
- 145lb., Jaron Bradley (31-12), 6th seed
- 160lb., Tavi Rivera (32-1), 1st seed
- 170lb., Dorian Walkingstick (26-7), 2nd seed
- 220lb., Raymond Taylor (16-9), 8th seed
- 285lb., Michael Montelongo (33-6), 2nd seed
Other EBCI wrestlers include:
