Swain and Murphy are now both one win away from playing for their second consecutive state football championships, and EBCI tribal members have been vital to their success.

Swain defeated Hendersonville 55-24 on Friday, Nov. 16 to advance to the Regional (4th) round of the NC 1AA playoffs this upcoming Friday.  Murphy beat conference rival Rosman 56-13 to advance to the Regional round of the 1A playoffs.

Swain QB Raymius Smith is one of the top quarterbacks in all of western North Carolina this season.  On Friday, he threw two touchdowns and ran for a third.  One of his touchdowns was a 22yd pass to fellow tribal member Greg Tisho.

The Maroon Devils are set to host Monroe (11-2) on Friday.

Murphy’s Gage Cox ran for two touchdowns in the game and gained 129 yards on the ground.  The Bulldogs play undefeated Albemarle (13-0) on Friday.
