Rattler arrested in Tenn. following alleged burglary attempt

A Pigeon Forge, Tenn. man is recovering at UT Medical Center in Knoxville after receiving injuries received during an alleged burglary in progress at his residence late on the night of Monday, Nov. 26.

Toby Norton, 33, interrupted an alleged burglary in progress at his home, encountered the man inside and called 911.  A struggle ensued, during which Norton was stabbed with a knife, receiving injuries which included a cut to his throat.  The intruder left in Norton’s vehicle.

Based upon a description by Norton, police located the victim’s vehicle nearby in possession of the suspect.  Zachary Rattler, 18, an EBCI tribal member from Cherokee, was arrested on multiple charges including:

– Criminal Conspiracy to Committee Second Degree Murder

– Aggravated Burglary

– Theft

– Motor Vehicle Theft

– Unlawful Possession of a Weapon

Norton was in surgery on Tuesday morning, but is expected to recover from his injuries.  No information was released as to Rattler’s bond.
