FOOTBALL: Braves top Andrews 34-23

Cherokee (3-6) topped Andrews (2-7) 34-23 on Friday, Oct. 19 at Ray Kinsland Stadium.  Logan Woodard threw for 154yds and two touchdowns and ran for another score to lead the Braves.

Cherokee gained a total of 356yds in the game.  Seth Littlejohn gained 103yds on 15 carries and 1TD and Joe Lomas gained 100yds on 11 carries and 1TD.

The Braves scored first as Woodard hit Brandon Buchanan on a 55-yard touchdown pass.  The point-after kick was blocked and Cherokee led 6-0.  Andrews answered with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Moore to Logan Allen and led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Littlejohn made the only score in the second quarter on a 47-yard run.  The two-point conversion failed and Cherokee led 12-7 at the half.

Andrews took the lead in the third quarter on a 42-yard touchdown by Bristol Brockwell, but Cherokee answered quickly with two scores as Woodard hit Littlejohn on a 9-yard touchdown pass and Woodard ran for a 4-yard score.

Cherokee led 26-15 at the end of the third quarter.

Both teams scored once each in the fourth quarter.  Lomas ran for an 8-yard score and Woodard hit Buchanan on a pass for the two-point conversion as Cherokee took the lead 34-15 early in the fourth.

Andrews would score with 46 seconds left as Moore ran for a 16-yard score.  The two-point conversion was good and the final score was 34-23.
