MISS CHEROKEE 2011

I have been very busy throughout the month of August fulfilling various roles and attending various events. I completed an internship with the Finance Department, was busy fulfilling Miss Cherokee duties, and began my journey as a dental hygiene student.

On Aug. 3, I volunteered at the trout derby registration at the Cherokee Fairgrounds. I had my picture made with some of the registrants and welcomed them to Cherokee. On Aug. 4, at 5:30 am, I volunteered at the trout derby event and mingled with the participants. There were so many people! I was glad to see everyone, especially the children having such a wonderful time.

On Aug. 7, I attended the Big Cove Community Club meeting held at the Big Cove Community Rec Center. I presented them with a picture of myself, Big Cove Councilmen, and Heath Shuler to express my appreciation to them. They were one of my sponsors for the 2011 Miss Cherokee pageant.

On Aug. 20, I began the Dental Hygiene Program at AB Tech. I am very excited to be starting this new chapter in my life and want to encourage you all to pursue your dreams. As members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, we are very blessed and have the potential and resources necessary to be successful.

On Aug. 30, I will be travelling to Oklahoma to attend Cherokee Holidays. I am very excited about this trip and look forward to interacting with Western Cherokees! I will be participating in their parade and I am sad to say that this will be the last parade that I will participate in as Miss Cherokee.

After my trip to Oklahoma, I will have one remaining trip that will close out my reign as Miss Cherokee. There are also a couple of local events that I will attend.  I would like to encourage each of you to attend the Miss Cherokee 2012 Pageant that will be held on Sept. 29.
