Tuesday, May 29 – Agelink Graduation – 7:00 p.m. at Acquoni Church

BOARD OF DIRECTORS AGENDA:

Resolution 2492 – Approve negotiation of Interagency Agreement between Boys Club and Cherokee Central Schools for School Year 2012-13

Resolution 2493 – Approve permanent transfer of employee to the Construction and Facilities Department

SYMPATHY

     The Boys Club staff extends their condolences to Frank Cooper and his family on the recent loss of his mother Betty Cooper.  Frank is the Boys Club’s Finance and Audit Manager.  A memorial service will be held in Florida on May 20.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to PEO Scholars Award (please specify this in the memo line of the check) and mail to Ms. Nancy Graham, PEO President, Delray, 200 S. Ocean Blvd., Apt. 403, Delray Beach, FL  33483.

     We also express our sincere sympathy to the friends and family of Richard Monroe Hughes who passed away on May 8, 2012.  Mr. Hughes was the stepfather of Jenny Bean who works in the Family Support Services office. 

AGELINK GRADUATION

     Agelink will hold its 2012 graduation on Tuesday, May 29 at 7p.m. in the Acquoni Chapel. 

SAFETY COMMITTEE AWARDS

     The May Safety Committee has been cancelled due to the Boys Club’s participation in the 2012 Annual Day of Caring.  However, the drawing for the 1st quarter 2012 Safety Awards was held and the following people have won a $25 gift card:  Sherry Toineeta, Club Administration; Lacey Smith, Child Care; Nancy Taylor, Bus and Truck Department; Neil Owle, Construction and Facilities; Cynthia Ledford, Cherokee Elementary School; Ari-Ben Betty, Children’s Home/Family Support; Trista Welch, Graphics Department; Jason Ormsby, Cherokee High School; Parshala Pheasant, Food Service; Marlene Arch, Cherokee Middle School; Woodreen Caldwell, School Admin., Facilities, Hope Center, SPED, IT; Jay Thomasson, Club Shop Department and Samuel Hall, Oconaluftee Job Corps.

     Employees who did not lose any days of work during this quarter (January 1, 2012 through March 31, 2012) due to an accident or injury were eligible for this quarterly drawing.  Winners can pick up their gift card from Tiff Reed at the Boys Club’s HR Office on Friday, May 18. 

CONGRATULATIONS

     The Boys Club congratulates all the Cherokee Central Schools’ athletes who were honored at the Athletic Banquet held on Sunday, May 13 at Harrah’s Casino.  Thanks to all of these students for their hard work, participation and dedication to their respective sports.  Thanks also to all of the School staff, parents and volunteers who gave their time and energy to help the Schools’ athletic program.

CONSTRUCTION & FACILITIES RECEIVES TRAINING

     The Club’s Construction and Facilities Department received four hours of in-service safety training on Tuesday, May 15 at the Club.  The training was provided by Cherokee Home Center.
