MCROBERTS, Kent. – Whitney Erin Griffin, age 22, formerly of Clyde, North Carolina, passed away November 12, 2011, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born on September 4, 1989, at Sylva, North Carolina, and lived in North Carolina prior to moving to Letcher County, Kentucky, four years ago. Whitney was a restaurant cashier and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her mother, Christine Anderson Deaver, of McRoberts, Kentucky, and her father, James “Johi” Griffin, Jr., of Cherokee, North Carolina; her daughter, Sophia Griffin of the home; a sister, Morgan Henson of McRoberts, Kentucky; maternal grandparents, Alice Israel of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Curtis Anderson, Sr., of McRoberts, Kentucky; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Griffin, of Cherokee, North Carolina; other children of the home, Erin Anderson, Isaiah Anderson, and Austin Anderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Inturnment will be held on the Cherokee Indian Reservation at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
