Healing and Wellness Coalition meeting scheduled

The next meeting of the Healing and Wellness Coalition is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 11:30am – 1pm at Living Waters Lutheran Church on Locust Road off Goose Creek Road.   Bring your own lunch.

The Coalition is Cherokee’s own grassroots movement for the reduction of substance abuse and other health challenges among our people.  There are several subcommittees working on very exciting projects including a Wellbriety Winter Solstice event on Thursday, Dec. 22.  Watch for more information about that upcoming event.

The Coalition is committed to enhancing the lives of the people by honoring and reclaiming the seven Cherokee core values especially by the reduction of substance abuse in a comprehensive manner primarily focusing on youth.  The seven core values are:  Spirituality, Harmony, Education, Sense of Place, Honoring the Past, Strong Character and Sense of Humor.

If you can’t make the Dec. 13 meeting, check out the website (www.cherokeehealingcoalition.org).  Info:  Beth Farris at (828) 421-9855 with questions or ideas.
