Lawrence Reed, 79, of Cherokee passed away at Park Ridge Hospital on August 17, 2011, following an extended illness. He was a resident of the Big Y Community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnson Reed and Dinah Hornbuckle Reed; brothers, Roy Reed, Jonah Reed, and Peter Reed; sisters, Helen Reed Bradley and Selma Reed; and granddaughter, Alannah Ledford; nephews, Jimmy Bradley, Raymond Bradley and Don Bradley; and great nephew, Rusty Wolfe.
He is survived by his son, Allen Edward Reed and wife Anita Ann; daughter, Ida Teresa Reed and Daniel Tramper; adopted brother, Ray E. Kinsland; sister-in-law, Eva Reed, grandchildren, Mary May Ledford, Jessica Rivera, Ce Ann Jackson, Daniel Edward Tramper, Edward Dewayne Sherrill and wife Layla; Kenneth and Victoria S. Hornbuckle, Kimberly Smith, Robert James, Jacob James, John Davis; great grandchildren, Josiah Edward Sherrill, Gabriel Rivera, and Logan Biddix; Joseph Smith-Hornbuckle, Jayden, Jada, Joshua and Jasmine Smith, Angel, Catrina, Billie, and Elsa; nephews, J. Boy Reed, Morgan Bradley and wife Loretta, and Bob Reed; nieces, Sissy Reed, Martha Wolfe and husband Wayne, and Carol Long; adopted family, Leona Faulker and Ellen Johnson; and several great nieces and great nephews.
The body was taken to the Acquoni Baptist Chapel at 5 PM on Friday, August 19, 2011. The funeral was held at the Acquoni Baptist Chapel at 2 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2011. Burial was at the Reed Family Cemetery.
The Rev. Dan Lambert and Ray Kinsland officiated. Pall bearers were J. Boy Reed, Wayne Wolfe, Diggy Wolfe, Richard Bradley, Stu Bradley, Steve Smith, Joe Smith-Hornbuckle, and Terri Bradley.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
