Until this past week, residents of Cherokee needing home improvement supplies had to drive to Sylva or Franklin. Now, they only have to go to Acquoni Road.

The Cherokee Home Center held a grand opening on Friday, Aug. 26. The 12,000 square foot facility employs four people and carries a large assortment of materials, supplies and appliances.
“We’ve very proud to have the opportunity to create Cherokee Home Center for the Cooper family,” said Allen Newland of Haywood Builders Supply who helped create the store. “With today’s economic downfalls, it’s a great feeling to be a part of a new start-up business. We feel it is a much-needed service that will help the whole community of Cherokee in many ways for many years to come.”
The Home Center will be open Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4:30pm and on Saturdays from 8am – 3pm.

“The opening of the Cherokee Home Center provides a tremendous service to both Cherokee and the surrounding counties,” said Matthew Pegg, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce executive director. “The product selection that is offered at Cherokee Home Center is very diverse with everything from nuts and bolts to paint to washers and dryers. It is a great addition to our local business community.”
