CHEROKEE RUNNERS

The Cherokee Runners have competed in a variety of races during the last couple of weeks.  Dawna Paul, Karleigh Reeves and Pam Sneed ran in the Conquer the Cove on April 10 in Asheville.  This is a challenging course and we salute these women for taking on the challenge.

On Saturday April 23, two races were held:  Chad Bowman, Skye Littledave and Brian Burgess competed in the Greening Up the Mountains in Sylva while the Bunny Run in Lake Junaluska had several Cherokee Runners compete.  In the 5K (3.1 miles), Stephan & Robin Swimmer, Alex Cruz, Brooke and Gabe Lossiah competed and in the 10K (6.2 miles), Angel, Nick & Priscilla Squirrell, Brian Driver, Lucky Hodges and Jimmy Oocumma competed.  Several of the Cherokee Runners placed in their age groups.  Congratulations to all!

Meanwhile in Cherokee, Gerri and Sean Grady led the Saturday morning Couch to 5K training session.  The Couch to 5K training is available to anyone that wants to work up to running (or walking) a 5K.  The training takes place each Tuesday and Thursday at 6PM and Saturdays at 8:30AM.  Fitness levels do not matter, just a commitment to succeed.

Membership in the Cherokee Runners is open to everyone.  We meet each month at 5PM on the 1st and the 15th at the Age Link Conference Room.  Join us for fitness, fun and friendship.
