WRESTLING: Braves split at Hayesville Meet

                HAYESVILLE – The Cherokee Braves varsity wrestling team split in a meet held at Hayesville High School on Tuesday, Feb. 1.  The Braves defeated Hiwassee Dam 48-12 but lost to Hayesville 45-30. 

                Several of Cherokee’s wrestlers appear in the Feb. 2 retrorankings.com listing including:  sophomore Tavi Rivera (4th – 160lb.), junior John Roper (3rd – 171lb.) and junior Will Bird (4th – 189lb.). 

                The Braves travel to Andrews this Saturday, Feb. 5 for the Smokey Mountain Conference Tournament.

112lb. – Jacob Willingham (HD) won by forfeit

119lb. – Levi Swearengin (Ch) pinned Gage Horchler (HD) at the :35 mark
