George Howard Toineeta, 93, of Cherokee, passed away Monday, October 18th, 2010 at his residence. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late George and Pearl Wolfe Toineeta. He was a US Army Veteran having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife Tiney S. Toineeta, two sons, Jimmy and Johnny Toineeta.
He is survived by 6 sons, Jesse, Joe, Charlie, George, Shag, and Elrod all of Cherokee;7 daughters, Frances Tahbonemah of Lawton, Okl, Patsy Toineeta of Franklin, Georgia Hunter, Tiney Toineeta, Gail Parker, Brenda Toineeta, and Barbara Toineeta all of Cherokee; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two sisters Margaret Owle and Dorothy Toineeta both of Cherokee.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Ramsland will officiate. Burial will be in the Toineeta Family Cemetery with military graveside rights conducted by the Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post 143 Cherokee, NC.
The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
