Cherokee Chamber of Commerce hosts Meet Me in the Smokies Open

The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Cherokee Rotary, hosted the first annual Meet Me in the Smokies Open at Sequoyah National Golf Club on Saturday, May 22.  Over 70 local and visiting golfers enjoyed great on course weather in support of the Sequoyah National Junior Golf Program – teaching area children the enjoyment and lifelong values of golf.

 Title sponsors included the United Keetoowah Cherokee Casino of Oklahoma, An-ton Automotive, Duke Energy, Sumter Utilities, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Granny’s Kitchen and Nantahala Outdoor Center.  Hole sponsors included the Best Western Cherokee, Sequoyah Fund, Holiday Inn Pigeon Forge, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Indian Creek Campground, United Community Bank, Quality Inn Cherokee, Rivers Edge Outfitters, Bryson City Bicycles and the Econo Lodge Cherokee.

An awards dinner sponsored by the EBCI Travel and Promotion department concluded the day with first place going to the team made up of Roy Greene, Tom Coss, Garrett Greene and Cole Coss.  Second place went to Jeff Piskos, Brad Kays and Eric Allen.  The longest drive went to Justin Kirkland and the closest to the pin was awarded to Eric Allen.
