Four charged in Jackson County Burglaries

NOTE:  This story was updated at 10am on Tuesday with the arrest of the fourth suspect in the case, Samantha Lynn Gunter. 

SYLVA – Four persons have been arrested in Jackson County for a series of burglaries that had occurred in the Whittier and Dillsboro area according to

Captain Steve Lillard of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.  Detective Ronnie Mathis has charged the persons listed below regarding their involvement in recent property crimes that took place at residences and businesses located near Hwy. 441, Shoal Creek Road, Paul Cooper Road and Hwy 441 South near Pumpkin Town Road. 

Joshua Levi West, 20, of Cherokee, was being held under a $48,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.  He has been charged with:

Shoshoni West

– 3 counts of Breaking and Entering

– 2 counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering

– 1 count of Larceny of Firearm

– 2 counts Injury to Real Property

– 1 count of Attempting Breaking and Entering

Erica Bradley

Erica Lea Bradley, 22, of Whittier, was being held under a $28,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.  She has been charged with:

– 1 count of Breaking and Entering

– 1 count of Larceny after Breaking and Entering

– 1 count of Larceny of Firearm

Samantha Gunter

Shoshoni Ayanna West, 18, of Cherokee, was being held under a $40,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.  She has been charged with:

– 1 count of Breaking of Entering

– 1 count of Attempting Breaking and Entering

Samantha Lynn Gunter, 19, of Whittier, was being held on a $6,000 bond on Tuesday.  She has been charged with:

– Felony Breaking and Entering

– Larceny after Breaking and Entering

– Larceny of a Firearm

More charges are expected to be added in the near future and the investigation is ongoing.
