Regular Season draws to a close

The Cherokee Lady Braves finished their regular season on a high note on Tuesday, Feb. 9 with an 81-40 win over the Andrews Lady Wildcats.  Tahnee Arkansas led Cherokee with 17 points followed by Rayna Davis and Jordyn Thompson who scored 14 apiece. 

The first period was relatively close with Cherokee holding onto a three point 15-12 lead.  But, the Lady Braves poured in on in the second period outscoring Andrews 25-6 to take a 40-18 lead into the locker room. 

They kept the momentum going in the third period outscoring Andrews 23-9.  Andrews’ Rachel Moore was their top scorer with 10 followed by Lauren Crisp with 8. 

Other Lady Braves scorers included:  Trae Crowe 2, Paige Jackson 6, Celine Lambert 2, Alexis Maney 9, Tashina Martin 8, Elizabeth Wahnetah 2 and Hannah Youngdeer 7.

The Braves didn’t fare as well as they lost to Andrews 53-43 in a low-scoring affair.  After trailing 11-5 after one period, both teams tied in the next two periods (8-8 in the second and 13-13 in the third).  Andrews edged Cherokee 21-17 in the fourth period to seal the victory. 

Cherokee was led by Tre Owle with 12 points followed by Greg Bradley with 11.  Andrews was led by Corey Scroggs with 17 and Corey Hancock with 13.
