The Museum of the Cherokee Indian will offer the following classes in the new Education and Research Wing:

Cherokee Stamped Pottery.  Feb. 27 and repeated March 27 – Saturdays from 9am – 4pm.  Learn to make potter in this 3,000 year old tradition; taught by Bernadine George and Cherokee Potters Guild.   Fee: $50 plus $10 materials.  Museum Members: $40.  EBCI: $20

Creative Writing.  March 6-13-20-27 – Saturdays from 1-4pm.  Learn about writing prose and poetry from Robert Conley (Cherokee Nation).  Fee: $150. Museum Members: $120. EBCI: $20

White Oak Basketmaking.  March 13 from 9am – 4pm.  Leran to make a white oak basket from Ramona Lossiah.  Fee:  $100 plus $50 materials. Museum Members: $80. EBCI: $20

Fingerweaving and Feather Capes.  Feb. 28 from 2-4pm.  Lecture and demonstration by Deborah Harding, curator at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.  Sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council.  Free and open to the public.

Fingerweaving with Beads.  March 1-5 from 9-12am or March 6 from 9am – 4pm.  Learn the 18th Century Cherokee technique with Deborah Harding and Karen George.  Fee:  $100 plus $25 for materials. Museum Members: $80. EBCI: 20

Making Netted Capes.  March 1-2 from 6-9pm.  Learn this technique in two evenings with Deborah Harding.  Fee:  $100 plus $25 for materials.  Museum Members: $80. EBCI: $20

Making Feather Capes.  March 3-4-5 from 6-9pm.  Learn this technique in three evenings with Deborah Harding.  Fee: $100 plus $25 for materials.  Museum Members: $80. EBCI: $20
