Effective tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 1), it will be illegal for you to read or compose text messages while driving in the State of North Carolina including the Qualla Boundary.

The penalty for breaking this law will be a $100 fine but no points on your driver’s license. You may still dial and receive calls and you may look up phone numbers, but texting while driving will no longer be allowed and will be strictly enforced.
