Hardin McKinnely Locust

 

Hardin McKinnely Locust, 57 of Cherokee, North Carolina died on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Decedent’s Son’s Residence in Gastonia, NC.

Born Sunday, January 27, 1952 in Cherokee, NC. He was the husband of Nellene Locust Cole of Whittier, NC. He was the son of the late Hardin Locust and mary Magdalene Conrad.

He was also preceded in death by a brother Frank James Locust.

Surviving are 3 sons, James Locust and wife Kim of Gastonia, NC, Jackie Cole of Whittier, NC and Brad Kelley Cole of Whittier, NC, a daughter Christy Cole of Whittier, NC, a brother, Roy Jenkins Conard Jr., of Waynesville NC, 3 sisters, Mary Lou Reece of Waynesville, Sarah Jane Frizzell of Waynesville, NC and Loraine Murphy of Waynesville, 4 grandchildren.

Services were held at 180 Raymond Dr. in Hazelwood, NC and officiated by Pastor Jimmy Trantham. Interment was in the Locust Family Plott of the Sutton Town Road, Cemetery, Jonathan’s Creek, NC

Arrangements were handled by Long House Funeral Home, Inc, Cherokee, NC.

 

Joshua West Williamson

 

WHITTIER – Joshua West Williamson, 97, of the Conleys Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 8, 2009 at his residence. A native of Newport, TN, he had lived in Swain County for most of his life. He retired with 20 years of service with Hennessee Lumber Co. He also drove a taxi, and was an avid farmer and Bee Man. He was the son of the late Laws and Bertha Ramsey Williamson and husband to the late Hazel Rogers Williamson. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Carroll and Harold Williamson; and one daughter, Claudia Bohanan; one grandson, Scott Williamson.

 He is survived by one daughter, Frankie Ledford of Mebane, NC; two sons, Billy West Williamson and wife Carol of Greensboro, NC, Ray Edgar Williamson and wife Teresa of Whittier; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.

 Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Steve Phillipi, and Jeff Ramsland will officiate with burial in the Sherrill Cemetery.

 

Frances Ross (Totsy) Gonzalez

 CHEROKEE – Frances Ross (Totsy) Gonzalez, 59, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 in a Myrtle Beach, SC Hospital. A native of Cherokee, she was the daughter of Robert Ross of Gosse Creek in Cherokee and the late Frances Wahnetah. She is survived by one son, Sean Ross of Cherokee; one granddaughter, Vivian Leigh; and three brothers, John Ross and Donald Ross both of Cherokee, and Raymond Ross of Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Birdtown Cemetery with Ray Kinsland officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday at Crisp Funeral Home.
