Joan “Mama Jo” Osborn – obituary

Joan “Mama Jo” Osborn, 80, of Sylva, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 25, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hazel Jorgenson Hillman, as well as Jim Carlson of Minnesota, Raymond Pint of Iowa, and Hilary Osborn of Cherokee.

Left to cherish her memory are: her children, Sean Cahill(Ken) of Bryson City, Rick Pint of Sylva; grandchildren, Monica, Audrey, Erika; great grandchildren; Jasmine, Chastity, Austin, Shaelyn, Riley, and Silas; great great granddaughter, Caroline; brother, Kenneth Hillman of West Virginia; nephew, Hollis Hillman (Darla) and his children Savannah, Alayna, Lilliana and Logan.

Also left to cherish her memory is her loving best friend and companion and love of her life.

Mama Jo was a loving, caring and giving person, she was a great lady and was a member of United Methodist Church in Cherokee. She loved doing work and donating to the Shriners Hospital as well as volunteering her time for numerous organizations.

She was a proud Norwegian!

A Memorial Service to honor her memory will be held 2 p.m. on Friday Nov. 1 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. Jim Sexton and Steve Phillippi officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.
