Cherokee Tribal EMS Training Center graduates first class

Cherokee Tribal EMS Training Center has announced the graduation of its first class of Paramedic students. This class was offered on nights and weekends for students who were already working in the EMS field and not wishing to attend traditional college classes.  The students came into class certified at the EMT level and spent 18 months completing the Paramedic training. The class consisted of a minimum of 1,000 hours spent in the classroom, skill labs, hospital clinical sites, and ambulance clinical sites.

Ten students, all working in local communities, completed the training. A graduation ceremony and pinning ceremony was held on Friday, Oct. 13to recognize the hard work of these individuals.

“Cherokee Tribal EMS would like to thank the following clinical sites for support of this program: Cherokee Tribal EMS, Cherokee Indian Hospital Emergency Department, Outpatient and Inpatient Services, Harris Regional Hospital Intensive Care and Cardiopulmonary Therapy Services, Harris EMS, Swain Community Hospital Emergency Department, Harris Pediatrics, and Tsali Care Center,” Cherokee Tribal EMS officials stated.
