TRACK & FIELD: Cherokee participates in Frank Patton Classic

BREVARD – Members of the boys and girls varsity track teams from Cherokee High School participated in the Frank Patton Classic at the Brevard College Track in Brevard on Tuesday, April 11.  In all, a total of eight teams participated including: Brevard, Carolina Day School, Cherokee, Enka, Madison, North Henderson, Rosman, and Swain Co.  Brevard won the girls team contest with 236 points and Brevard took first place team honors with 165.5.  The Cherokee boys (57 points) and girls (51 points) teams both placed fifth overall.

Following are results from Cherokee’s teams:

  • Girls Shot Put: Me-Li Jackson, 1st, 31-05.50; Tiarra Toineeta, 3rd, 28-04.75; Awee Sequoyah, 7th, 22-11.25
  • Girls 400M Dash: Raylen Bark, 4th, 1:07.1
  • Girls 800M Dash: Dorian Reed, 6th, 2:49.0
  • Girls Long Jump: Raylen Bark, 3rd, 13-10.00
  • Girls Discus Throw: Tiarra Toineeta, 2nd, 88-03; Me-Li Jackson, 5th, 71-06; Awee Sequoyah, 6th, 65-06
  • Boys Shot Put: Byron Locust, 1st, 43-06.00; Joaquin Layno, 2nd, 38-11.50; Josh Driver, 9th, 29-07.00
  • Boys 400M Dash: Josiah Lossiah, 2nd, 57.7
  • Boys 800M Dash: Tihjah Lossiah, 5th, 2:24.2
  • Boys 3200M Run: Darius Lambert, 2nd, 10:48.9
  • Boys Discus Throw: Byron Locust, 1st, 107-02; Joaquin Layno, 3rd, 103-02; Josh Driver, 6th, 74-10
