Single car accident results in fatality in Birdtown

A single car accident in the Birdtown Community late night on Tuesday, April 21 has resulted in one death.  The driver, Imadeann Sequoyah, was flown to Memorial Mission. A passenger, Mathew Starlin, was flown to the University of Tennessee but later died from injuries sustained from the accident.

The EBCI Public Safety Communication Center received a report of an accident on Adams Creek Road at 11:54am.  The reporting party stated a car had struck a tree and said there were persons still in the vehicle, possibly hurt. The accident occurred on Adams Creek Rd. near the driver’s residential entrance on the main road.

According to investigators, a 2002 Ford Mustang 2-S was traveling on Adams Creek Rd. The driver lost control, crossed the center line and struck a tree. Two people were injured and still in the car when emergency responders arrived on scene.

The Cherokee Indian Police Department Traffic Investigators are still investigating the accident and charges are pending.
