LETTER: Thank you Yogi Crowe Scholarship

Dear Board Members:

It is with humility and profound gratitude that I am writing this letter to thank you for selecting me as a recipient of the Richard Yogi Crowe Scholarship.  I am an advanced standing graduate student where my first year of foundation classes was waived and I entered directly into the second year of the graduate studies social work program at Western Carolina University.

I am currently completing my yearlong internship at the Cherokee Central Schools while carrying at least 15 hours of study per semester.  I will graduate in May 2015 with a master’s degree in social work.  After graduation, I plan to return my services back to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.  With much thanks to this scholarship I am one step closer in achieving a lifetime goal.

This scholarship comes as a happy relief as it has lightened my family’s financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school which is learning.  I am greatly inspired by two parts of Yogi’s philosophy that includes obtaining a higher education and giving back to the community.  I will serve our community in a way that reflects these same values in my life.  One way I plan to achieve this is by providing ethical social work in our community.

I would like to thank each board member for continued devotion and service to this board while encouraging higher education in our community.
