The Daydreamz Project is sponsoring the first annual SeptemberFest event at the Green Thumb Garden in back of the Old Armory building in Frog Level in Waynesville on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 1-5pm, and EBCI tribal member Paula Nelson is one of the featured performers.

This event will celebrate harvest, community gardening and preservation in the Waynesville, Haywood County area. Nelson is a singer, poet, writer, and dancer.   She combines storytelling, lecturing and singing to bring Cherokee culture to life and show how all people can learn and benefit from the wisdom of her people. She will be teaching about the relationship between gardening and community in her culture and how thriving gardens really do create thriving communities.

There will be food, fun, including kids’ activities, music, local vendors, as well as information about gardening, beekeeping, composting, vermiculture and sustainability. There will be a tour of the Frog Level area community gardens, and more.
