WASHINGTON – Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC) has received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Spirit of Enterprise” award and the North Carolina Christmas Tree Association’s “Outstanding Public Official Award”.

Mark MeadowsThe U.S. Chamber’s 2014 “Spirit of Enterprise” award recognizes a select group of legislators who supported pro-business issues during the first session of the 113th Congress.  The North Carolina Christmas Tree Association’s “Outstanding Public Official Award” is presented to a public official at the local, county, state or federal level who has made a significant contribution to the Christmas tree industry.

“Receiving both of these awards is a truly unexpected honor,” Rep. Meadows said.  “As a businessman, I know how important small businesses are to our economy’s health.  But, I also know the challenges they face from a government that continues to pile on regulations, red tape and compliance costs.  Though the House has passed many bills during the 113th Congress to rein in government overreach and support entrepreneurship, there is still much work to be done.  I will continue working with my colleagues to protect small businesses and create an environment conducive to growth and job creation.”
