Kristina Hyatt, an EBCI tribal member, is one of the 2013 Cherokee Indian Hospital Scholarship winners.  She is the 24-year-old daughter of Lavon and Gloria Hyatt from the Big Cove community. Hyatt is a second year student in the Dental Hygiene program at A-B Tech in Asheville and will graduate in May. She is currently a Jones Bowman fellow and enjoys volunteering in the Asheville and Cherokee communities.

“I am very thankful to be a recipient of the CIHA scholarship for two consecutive years and hope to work in the Cherokee Dental Clinic in the near future,” said Hyatt.

The Cherokee Indian Hospital Scholarship is sponsored entirely by employees of CIH.  Funds are raised by donations, silent auctions and fund raisers.

“The employees of Cherokee Indian Hospital congratulate Kristina Hyatt on her accomplishments!” said hospital officials.
