Monday, Sept. 2 – Labor Day Holiday (Club, Tribe and School Holiday)

Wednesday, Sept. 4 – Managers’ Meeting – 8:30 a.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 11 – Deadline for Board Resolutions – 8:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 17 – Health Screen – 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 18 – Board of Directors Meeting – 8:30 a.m.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

The Boys Club extends heartfelt sympathy to the friends and family of Jesse Toineeta who passed away on Wednesday.  We ask that everyone keep this family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Jesse worked in the Facilities Department of Cherokee Central Schools.

We also extend our sympathy to the friends and families of Haze Lynn Ayen and Sergio Taylor Hernandez who also passed away recently.  Please keep all of these people in your thoughts and prayers.

FAN BUS TO CHEROKEE VS. CHOCTAW GAME AVAILABLE

The Boys Club is offering a fan bus to Philadelphia, Mississippi for fans to attend the Cherokee Braves vs. Choctaw Warriors Battle of the Nations game on Friday, Sept. 6.  For the on-line readers of the One Feather, the deadline for reservations will be Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES FOOD PANTRY NEWS!

The Family Support Services Department of the Boys Club sends thanks to the Tribal Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for their recent donation to the Food Pantry.  Members of the Board presented a check in the amount of $2,000 to Department Manager Barbara Jones this week to go toward stocking the Pantry to help feed community members in need.

BECK SCHOLARSHIP TRUSTEES PRESENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Trustees of the Beck Scholarship Fund met on Wednesday, Aug. 28 to approve funding for three applicants.  This scholarship fund was established to assist enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians who are attending law school.  The awards were given to Barbara “Sunshine” Parker, Gina Lambert and Nelson Lambert.  We wish all these students the best in their educational endeavors.

TRIBAL GENERAL ELECTION – THURSDAY, SEPT. 5

The Boys Club encourages everyone who is eligible to get out and vote on Thursday.  This election is for the Tribal Council and the Wolfetown, Birdtown and Big Cove School Board members.
