I had the opportunity to go to the Special Olympics on Friday, May 3. I really had a great time. I got to watch running/walking/wheelchair races, long jump, and softball/baseball throws. Everyone did a great job!  I thought it was awesome that they all tried their best and never gave up while keeping a smile on their beautiful faces!

I want to thank God for blessing me with such a great experience! I also met two very special friends, Tony Wolfe and Robert Kanott. I had fun hanging out with them watching them during their races and softball throws. We talked about family, and it felt so good to see them get their medals! They taught me a big lesson…do my best and I will succeed at whatever I set my heart on!

Congratulations to all the Qualla Boundary Special Olympics Participants! You all are truly amazing and I loved being there to support everyone!

May God bless you all,

Marcela Garcia
