Wesley Driver – obituary

Wesley Driver, 72, of the Big Cove Community in Cherokee, passed away on March 7,2013 at the Cherokee Indian Hospital following a brief illness with a loving family by his side.

Wesley was the son of the late George and Annie Bird Driver of the Big Cove Community and was skilled in Cherokee craft as a wood carver.  He was member of Straightfork Baptist Church. 

Regardless of never having children of his own Wesley is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him as you would a parent or the closest of relatives.

Wesley is preceded in death by brothers, John G. Driver and Wade Driver;  Sisters, Savannah Calhoun, Alyne Driver and Lydia Littlejohn.

A funeral service was held at Straightfork Baptist Church on Sunday, March 10 officated by Pastor Charles Ray Ball and the Rev. James “Bo” Parris.  An immediate burial followed the service at Calhoun Cemetery with Will Driver, John Tooni, Bear Driver, Frank Driver, Matthew Tooni, Oscar Silva, Kevin Blackfox and Charlie Blackfox acting as Pall Bearers.

Long House Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
