CHEROKEE RECREATION

Cherokee Recreation has paired with New Vision Gymnastics out of Franklin to bring this opportunity home to Cherokee kids.  Not only does this partnership introduce the kids to a new sport, the benefits of gymnastics extend beyond the beam.

Julie Maney, a new gymnastics grandparent relates, “My grandchildren Rachel and Xain Maney has thoroughly enjoyed coming to these classes, just to learn and get the experience that is needed for their future.  I feel like this gymnastics class has been very productive for our children and grandchildren just to learn the techniques for becoming our future athletes.  I am hoping these classes will continue to be offered, and other children will be interested to participate.  The instructor is very proficient, invigorated, and very friendly that all the children seems to really enjoy being in her class.”

The sport of gymnastics is as well-rounded as you can get, incorporating strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, power, and discipline.  This is also a great way to encourage physical fitness for those kids who may not be interested in customary sports such as football, basketball, or baseball.

Cherokee Recreation related it would like to thank New Vision Gymnastics for this opportunity and we hope to continue this relationship.  “The interest and turn-out has been tremendous!  What a great opportunity for our kids to be introduced to another type of sport.”

Quana Winstead said this, “YES! I am so glad that it is in Cherokee! My oldest daughter wanted to do gymnastics so bad last year and we signed her up and took her over to Franklin for some classes, but the drive was too much for her after a long day at school. So, I am so glad that they are here. It’s a great way for them to get some exercise, learn flexibility, motor skills and balance, interact with other kids their age and build self confidence. It is also a great supplement for their dance classes.  All three of my girls love it and we will continue to come as long as they are having classes here.”

The winter session will wrap-up mid May, with a summer/fall session registration to follow June 3.  Look for more information regarding the summer/fall session in the coming months.  Info: Birdtown Gym 554-6890 or New Vision Gymnastics (828) 524-1904.
