Tuesday, March 19 – Health Screen – 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (Lobby)

Wednesday, March 20 – Board of Directors Meeting – 8:30 a.m.

Thursday, March 21 – Safety Committee Meeting – 11:30 a.m.

Friday, March 29 – School Furlough Day

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

The Boys Club staff wishes to extend their most sincere sympathy to the many friends and families of lost loved ones in recent weeks.  Many families have been affected by accidents, illness and death.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

BOYS CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS AGENDA:

The regularly scheduled monthly Board Meeting will be held in the Club’ Conference Room at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20.

SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

The joint Club and School Safety Committee will meet Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the School’s Administration Conference Room.  These meetings are held for department representatives to discuss recent employee accidents in an effort to ensure safety among the School and Club employees and to reduce factors that contribute to injuries received on the job.

IMPORTANT BOYS CLUB BOARD INFORMATION

VACANT BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITION

Due to the resignation of a Cherokee Boys Club Board of Directors member, a vacancy has opened for a board member.  The Boys Club’s Bylaws provide that “If a Board Member resigns before the term expires, replacement will be made by holding a special election.  The Board Member elected in this special election would serve the remainder of the term until the next regular election” which will end Sept. 30, 2014.  The next regular election will be held in August of 2014 for the term of Oct. 1, 2014 through Sept. 30, 2016.

Nominations were taken the week of March 4-8. The following people were nominated and have accepted the nomination:  Helana Beth Bradley, Samuel Crowe, Jack Davis, Joseph Saunooke, Jr., Jimmy Smith, Jesse Sneed, David Stamper, and Nancy Taylor.  The Special Election for this vacancy will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013.

CHILDRENS HOME CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Children’s Home’s Cornhole Tournament this past weekend.  Nineteen teams participated in this tournament .  The winners were as follows:

First Place – $500 – 2 Bucks (Keith Buck and Cody Buck from Johnson City, Tenn. )

Second Place – $300 – No Goods (Dawson Adams and Robert Lunsford from Winston-Salem)

Third Place – $200 – M & M (Troy Crowe and Kevin Owle from Cherokee)

Thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who donated prizes or prize money, food, and their time to make this fundraising event a success including CBC Board of Directors, CBC Printing, Dairy Queen, EBCI, Food Lion, Huddle House, Peter’s Pancakes, Paul’s Diner, Birdtown Gym, Bearmeat’s Den, Nancy Maney, Yellow Hill Community Club and all the volunteers.  Special thanks to NAIWA for their assistance with the concessions.  Proceeds from the tournament will go toward the construction of a new Children’s Home facility to be built on Goose Creek Road in the Birdtown Community.

EASTER CANTATA

The Acquoni Baptist Chapel Choir will present their Easter Cantata entitled “The Night Before Easter”, at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 at the Acquoni Baptist Chapel.  An Easter Fellowship Meal will follow the Cantata in the Fellowship Room.  Everyone is welcome.
