FOOTBALL: Swain, Murphy fall short in state finals

RALEIGH – Swain and Murphy, both teams which contain EBCI tribal members, fell just short of state titles on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Carter-Finley stadium at N.C. State.  Swain lost 44-34 to S.W. Onslow and Murphy lost to Plymouth 20-15.

Swain QB Raymius Smith, EBCI tribal member, set a state championship and Swain high school record with 426 yards.  He threw for two touchdowns, both to fellow tribal member Greg Tisho who broke two school and state finals records with 13 catches and 261 receiving yards.  Tisho also broke the Swain record with 20 touchdown receptions this season.

For their careers, Smith has completed 236 of 395 passes for 4,297yds and 57TDs and Tisho has caught 128 passes for 2,692yds and 36TDs.
