BASKETBALL: Lady Braves top Robbinsville, Braves fall to .500 on year

The Lady Braves (4-0) defeated the Lady Black Knights of Robbinsville 71-57 on Friday, Nov. 30.  Avery Mintz led Cherokee with 18 points followed by Jordyn Thompson with 14.

The first half was relatively close with Cherokee leading 23-22 after the first period.  The game was tied at 36 at halftime.  But, the second half was a different story.  Cherokee outscored Robbinsville 16-13 in the third period and blew the game open in the fourth outscoring the Lady Black Knights 19-8.

Other Cherokee scorers included:  Deija Burgess 4, Le Le Lossiah 3, Alexis Maney 6, Bree Stamper 13 and Kendall Toineeta 13.

Lindsey Crisp led the Lady Black Knights with 20 points followed by Amber Long with 11.

The Braves (2-2) didn’t fare well as they lost to the Black Knights 66-51.  Seth Littlejohn led Cherokee with 28 points followed by Dustin Johnson with 10.

Robbinsville led 11-6 after the first period, but Cherokee was able to cut into that lead and only trailed 26-24 at the half.  Robbinsville outscored Cherokee 20-10 in the third period to pull away and take the win.

Other Braves scorers included:  Jesse Toineeta 4, Dillon Bird 4, Raven Frankiewicz 2 and Darius Thompson 3.

Cole Huskey led Robbinsville with 19 points followed by Ben Wiggins with 18.
