Fire management personnel at Great Smoky Mountains National Park reported on Monday, Nov. 19 that the Raven Fork Fire is 70 percent contained at this time.  Approximately 30 firefighters from the Park and Bureau of Indian Affairs worked throughout the day to secure containment lines, monitor fire intensity, and mop up burned through areas.  Light to moderate fire activity remains in the southwest corner of the 50-acre fire between Big Cove Road and the Raven Fork Overlook.  The small area of remaining fire continues to be a low intensity, backfire with flame lengths less than a foot.

No Park trails or roads are closed, but motorists are advised to exercise caution driving in the area. To insure the safety of firefighters and motorists, firefighters are monitoring smoke conditions and will advise the public if conditions worsen.
