Cherokee Historical Association’s Holiday Event

When: Nov. 30 every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 15

Where: Cherokee Historical Association Business Office (across the street from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian

What:  In the Santa room, kids can visit with the jolly man in the red suit and have a picture made by Chris McCoy. In the Santa’s workshop area, children can create a special ornament to keep or give as a gift. The retail area will feature unique handcrafted items for the special person on your list. Choral groups will be singing and there will even be a storyteller.  And, for that ole time feeling, take a ride on a horse drawn wagon around Cherokee as you take in the beautiful decorations. Coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider and homemade treats available.

Christmas at Qualla

When: every Saturday until Christmas from 11am – 2pm

Where: Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual at 645 Tsali Blvd.

What: Get your photo taken with Native Santa and enjoy 25 percent storewide savings from Dec. 1-31.

Cherokee Christmas Parade

When: Dec. 1 at 5:30pm

Where: downtown Cherokee

What: Annual parade with a theme of “Treasures of Christmas”

Cost: Free

 

EBCI Transit Holiday Trips

When:

* Dec. 1 – Lights and Dinner in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and Gatlinburg, Tenn., you pay for dinner, then view the lights, leave at 4pm from Transit

* Dec. 3 – Shopping at Waynesville Wal-Mart Shopping Center, dinner on your own, leave at 4pm from Transit, return from Waynesville at 9pm

* Dec. 7 – Shopping at Pigeon Forge Outlets, dinner on your own, leave at 4pm from Transit, leave Pigeon Forge at 9pm

Cost: Free, call 554-6300 to reserve your seat.  A minimum of four persons are required to go.  If less than four people show for the trip, it will be cancelled.  All trips are weather-permitting.

 

 

37th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade

When: Dec. 7 at 7:30pm

Where: downtown Gatlinburg, Tenn.

What: Annual parade with over 100 entries and a dozen marching bands from five states

Cost: Free

 

38th Annual Christmas Parade

When: Dec. 8 at 2pm

Where: downtown Bryson City

What: Annual parade featuring bands, floats, and more

Cost: Free

 

New Kituwah Academy Christmas Program

When: Dec. 14 at 10am

Where: Acquoni Expo Center

What: Christmas program by the students

Cost: Free

 

Holidays on the Hardwood Basketball Tournament

When: Dec. 27-29

Where: Cherokee High School arena

What: The CHS varsity basketball teams will host this tournament for eight boys teams and eight girls teams.

Cost: $8/day pass
