CHILD CARE PROVIDERS:  WHOOPING COUGH IS ON THE RISE!

Tammy Bradley, Manager of the Club’s Agelink Center asks parents to be aware that Whooping Cough (pertussis) is on the rise and spreads easily from person to person by coughing, sneezing or close contact.  Most adults received a vaccination when they were children that protected them from whooping cough.  Because this vaccination weakens over time, adults can develop a mild case of whooping cough and can spread it to infants in their care.

This disease can be life-threatening to newborns and infants so it is important to protect yourself and children in your care by getting a Tdap Vaccine.  This also includes a tetanus and diphtheria booster.  Please check with your doctor, nurse, clinic or local health department for more information.
