GREENSBORO – On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5, the 8th grade members of the Cherokee Middle School Junior Beta loaded onto the Boys Club Charter Bus and headed for the North Carolina Junior Beta Club convention in Greensboro.  CMS betas were well prepared to compete with more than 3,000 top students representing beta chapters from 120+ schools across the state.  The 24 eighth grade members entered 13 individual art categories, five academic tests, and all six club projects.

At a Valentine’s Day Assembly, the CMS Junior Beta members were applauded by their peers and teachers as they presented two first place trophies and four art ribbons to Principal Rogers.  “Our students were so well behaved and helpful as they represented their school at the state convention,” praised Susan Lanier, teacher Beta sponsor and chaperone for CMS.  “In 12 years of attending the convention with CMS, this trip felt the most successful.”

Bette Fitzgerald, sponsor of CMS beta club commented “Our CMS betas prepare for competition and must be entered in events in order to attend the convention.  It is always rewarding to bring home ribbons and trophies to mark their success, but I am extremely proud of the efforts of all of our beta members this year.”
