Well managed pasture has many benefits for livestock. Raising quality grass helps reduce winter feed bills and the need for supplemental hay. Well managed pasture benefits the environment by reducing soil erosion that pollutes our mountain waters.

A Pasture Walk is being held on Friday, Dec. 16 at 12:30pm at the Ag. Service Center in Waynesville.   Topics will include grazing vs. feeding hay; forage quality comparisons; hoof damage to fields; and body condition scoring. If you are raising livestock such as swine, cattle, dairy, sheep, goats or horses you will benefit from seeing this pasture management demonstration. Fliers are available in the EBCI Agriculture Extension office or call John Ottinger at (828) 456-6341 ext. 3.
