Wednesday, September 14 – Board Resolution Deadline – 8:30 a.m.

CONGRATULATIONS
     Congratulations to Principal Chief Michell Hicks and Vice Chief Larry Blythe for being re-elected to serve another term.  Congratulations also to Tribal Council members who were re-elected and to Bo Taylor, the new Tribal Council Representative for the Big Cove Community.  The Club also welcomes new School Board members Charlotte Saunooke (Painttown) and Dick Crowe (Big Y) as well as T. W. Saunooke who will continue to serve the Yellowhill Community.
     As always, the Club is happy to assist our Tribal and School leaders in providing service to the Tribe, School and Community.

THANK YOU
     Club staff who coordinated the recent golf tournament to benefit the Children’s Home, Bill Taylor Scholarship Endowment and Cherokee Youth Center would like to extend thanks to Lumpy Lambert, former Family Services Board Member and Club Advisory Committee Member, for his assistance with the recent golf tournament.  Lumpy was very diligent in providing contact information for sponsorships and was also very helpful in coordinating scheduling information for our out-of-town guests and local Harrah’s staff who participated in the tournament.

FOCUS ON THE BOYS CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS
     The Cherokee Boys Club Board of Directors consists of nine members.  Five of these members are elected every two years from Boys Club members, two outside business members are appointed from the elected Board, one member is appointed by Tribal Council and one representative is elected from the Cherokee Central School’s student body to represent the School.  The current Board will serve through September 30, 2012.  The Board consists of:
Wilbur Paul, President; Robert Lambert, Vice President; Tiffani Reed, Secretary; Dwayne “Tuff” Jackson, Assistant Secretary; Albert Arch; Jack Davis; Wanda Lawless; Perry Shell, Tribal Council Representative; and Kiah West, Student Representative.
      The Board meets monthly or more often if necessary.  The Board approves all policy, contracts, hiring of employees, buying or selling of Club equipment, salaries, wages, loans, credit, construction of Club buildings, etc., as described in the Club’s Plan of Operation.  All School operations, including School policy, are made and approved by the School Board.

CHEROKEE HOMECOMING COURT SELECTED
     The following young ladies have been chosen to represent their class on the 2011 Homecoming Court:  Kendall Toineeta – 9th Grade; Avery Mintz and Andrea Cedillo – 10th Grade; Alexis Maney, Jordan Thompson, and Ashley Bottchenbaugh – 11th Grade and Abby Long, Shay Long, Cindi Guilford, and Shelby Hornbuckle – 12th Grade.  Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS
     Congratulations to the Braves Varsity Football team for their 38-0 victory over Towns County (Georgia) on Friday, September 2.  The Braves travel to Mississippi this week to participate in the Battle of the Nations where they will play the Choctaw Warriors.

FAN BUS AVAILABLE
     Remember, there will be a fan bus traveling to Mississippi on Friday, September 9.  The bus will leave the Boys Club at 8:00 a.m. and will return immediately after the game.  Please call the Boys Club at 497-9101 for details.  Cost for the trip will be $50/round trip and does not include food costs or admission costs for the game.  Seat availability will be on a first come, first served basis so call early to reserve your seats!
