Sherrill “The Cake Lady” Queen – obituary

Sherrill “The Cake Lady” Queen, 67, of Cherokee passed away at Tsali Care Center on March 18, 2011, following an extended illness.  In her working career, she was employed by the National Park Service and was a resident of the Wolftown Community.

To her friends and in the community she was known as “The Cake Lady”. She loved to bake and everyone who knew her will remember with fondness her pineapple upside down cake.

She is survived by her children, Donald Queen, Hugh Queen, Danette and Will Walkingstick, and Gaynell Bradley, all of Cherokee; grandchildren Loranzo “Boo” Wilnoty, Arron Fritts, Shannon Queen, Hugh Queen, Jr., all of Cherokee, and Nolan Bowers of Hollywood, Florida; Great-Grandchildren, Lucian “Luke” Crowe, Bailey Crowe, Dayton Wilnoty, and Loranzo Wilnoty, Jr., all of Cherokee.

The family had an immediate burial and graveside service at 4pm on March 18, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Danette in the Wolftown Community. Ray Kinsland officiated.    Pall Bearers were be Hugh Queen, Jr., Sam Crowe, Loranzo Wilnoty, Arron Fritts, Frank Oocumma, and Doug Pheasant.

Long House Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
