The Grace House Food Pantry will hold its Charity Golf Classic on Saturday, May 7. The event will be at the Sequoyah National Golf Club.

All proceeds from the tournament will help purchase foods for those in our community in need. The Grace House is an outreach of Whittier United Methodist Church. The food pantry serves all of Swain, Jackson, and surrounding counties.

The four man captains choice tournament will cost $400 per team, $100 per person. Early team sign-ups before April 1, will receive a 10-percent discount. With the discount, teams are $360, per person $90. Organizers are seeking teams, and hope to have all slots filled by mid-April. Team prizes will include first, second, and third place. There will also be on-course contests. Immediately after the tournament, there will be dinner and prize drawing.

Organizers are also seeking sponsors for the event. Sponsorships range in price from $100 to $2000 and include teams and various levels of company recognition.  Food Lion of Cherokee is a major sponsor as well as Coke Cola of Bryson City.

All donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.

The Grace House was established in Whittier, in April 2008. The Grace House is open on Saturdays from 9am to 11am. On average, the Grace House serves 48 families per week, representing a population of 400 to 500 people. The Grace House is a Member Agency of Manna Foodbank of Asheville. The average cost of food is more than $1200 monthly. These funds are raised through church suppers,    church donations and local churches and food stores.
